Idiopathic Intracranial
Idiopathic intracranial hypertension (iih) is a condition characterized by increased intracranial pressure (pressure around the brain) without a detectable cause.
SYMPTOMS
Symptoms mimic a brain tumour, but no tumour is present. They may include headache behind the eyes, ringing in the ears in time with the heartbeat and brief episodes of blindness.
CAUSES
Include pulsatile tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and neck and shoulder pain. Intracranialhypertension can be either acute or chronic. In chronicintracranial hypertension, the increased csf pressure can cause swelling and damage to the optic nerve—a condition called papilledema.
