PBC (Primary Biliary Cirrhosis)
Chronic progressive liver disease marked by inflammation, obstruction, and damage to the bile ducts within the liver resulting in the accumulation of bile in and functional impairment or failure of the liver.
SYMPTOMS
Itching (pruritus)., Fatigue., Yellowing of the skin and the white part of the eyes (jaundice)., Discomfort in the upper right part of the abdomen., Dry eyes and mouth., Vaginal dryness.
CAUSES
Primary biliary cirrhosis (pbc) is a progressive disease of the liver caused by a buildup of bile withinthe liver (cholestasis) that results in damage to the small bile ducts that drain bile from the liver. Over time, this pressure build-up destroys the bile ducts leading to liver cell damage.
