Ulcerative Proctitis

Ulcerative proctitis:ulcerative colitis that is limited to the rectum. Ulcerative Colitis itself is a relatively common disease involving inflammation of the large intestine (the colon). The cause is unknown. It is a form of inflammatory bowel disease and has some similarity to a related disorder, crohn's disease.

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms include rectal bleeding, bloody diarrhoea, abdominal cramps and pain. Pain areas: in the joints or rectum
Pain types: can be intermittent in the abdomen
Gastrointestinal: bloating, blood in stool, diarrhoea, inability to empty bowels, leaking of stool, or urgent need to defecate
Whole body: anaemia, fatigue, fever, or loss of appetite
Abdominal: cramping or tenderness
Also common: weight loss

CAUSES

Sexually transmitted infections (stis)
Inflammatory bowel disease (ibd), such as crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.
Anal trauma, such as from vigorous anal sex.
Infections that aren't sexually transmitted, such as infections from bacteria like salmonella and shigella.
